Niykee, who has had a whirlwind few years including being chosen by Snoop to sing with him at The YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee maintains a consistent songwriting schedule despite this. The songwriting process is an inspiration to aspiring producers. Niykee is always listening to beats and finds many which spark thoughts. She states that she can discern if a beat is good in just five minutes. And then, a brand new song will pop into her head. While I play the guitar outside on my porch, words start to flow. A majority times, it's done in 30 minutes. The pain of Niykee's childhood provides constant inspiration as she develops as a writer. "Even when I don't write about my life directly, the sadness of losing my sister and the pain of my childhood experiences are integrated into my songs," she says. It shapes my songs and helps to create this greater significance behind everything that is one the most important things to me--I need to know that I can hear any of my music 20 years down the road and feel proud of the things I had to say.
